Our story is the story of other women, refugees and health professionals.

We originated from a "country" where the "public" and centralized health system conflict with health determinants. Factors such as physical, personal, social, intellectual, environmental, emotional, financial, and spiritual aspects have posed risks for diseases affecting many communities and individuals. We have witnessed this firsthand as citizens and health professionals across various countries and health systems. Initially, after graduating as medical doctors, we worked as family specialists in our community and instructed first and second-year medical students. Later, we completed a postgraduate course in emergency medicine and participated in medical missions in Venezuela, alongside thousands of professionals, in diagnostic centers located in remote areas. There, we provided emergency health services to children, women, adults, and pregnant individuals, treating various endemic diseases such as Chagas, dengue, TB, meningo-encephalitis, as well as issues like domestic violence, child abuse, malnutrition, and diabetes with complications, and complex respiratory infections. We endured physical and mental abuse directed at health professionals by both the Cuban and Venezuelan governments. However, love triumphed over hate, leading us to create a drama or theater with children to communicate messages about disease transmission cycles and prevention to remote communities.
Thanks to the USA, we were welcomed as refugees and later worked and continue education in epidemiology research, public health, and other private health institutions. This is another story where we've observed, investigated, and learned that in a complex health system with numerous options, wellness heavily depends on self-care for both patients and health professionals. We have also observed that this complexity can occasionally pose challenges for health professionals and the healthcare system. We realized that no one can take away your knowledge and experience. These social elements motivated us to create this non-profit organization as we continue to growing as individuals and health professionals.
In summary, this organization's mission is to empower refugees, immigrants, international graduates, families with teenagers, children with disabilities, and those facing cancer. They achieve this through a holistic and functional approach using medical and nursing courses, stories, books, art, therapy groups, and up-to-date information. We strongly support an organized and filtered immigration, since this can affect a complete country, health and educational system, and also a better approach to achieve an stable immigrant situation.
